The Inside Scoop

MMA needed a blog optimized for online sharing and SEO. The design was to be simple and unobtrusive.

Between floating share icons on the side of the page, a tabbed “Most Popular” list in the sidebar, and automatic highlight tweets, the shareability is pretty robust.

On the other hand, the site needed to be lean, so I implemented page caching, lazy-loading for images, and a slew of other speed optimizations to keep things loading as quickly as possible on a small VPS.

This was the first shopping cart I implemented in a WordPress framework, and after loads of research, I went with WooCommerce, primarily due to the default feature set and availability of third-party plugins for low-overhead functionality boosts.

Tweaking a small server to deliver quick page loads.
