Ten Thousand Shrines – Website and Blog

“Japan is a place both modern and ancient, and one need only visit a shrine or hear the tolling of a temple bell from a bustling city street to fall in love with its poetic beauty.”

For what more need I ever look?

Project Description: Create a blog dedicated to my travel writings about Japan.

A Quote

“Japan is a place both modern and ancient, and one need only visit a shrine or hear the tolling of a temple bell from a bustling city street to fall in love with its poetic beauty.”

The Inside Scoop

The purpose of this project was to move Achira Iko!, a travelogue written for friends and family during my first travels in Japan, from Blogger to an independent installation of WordPress. (Checkout the project page for Achira Iko! here.)

Blogger, though free, is actually a pretty terrible platform for a blog—but hey, you get what you pay for, right?

So I migrated all 57 of my posts from Blogger to an independent WordPress installation running on a cloud server I setup at DigitalOcean (afflink). In order to separate the writings of Achira Iko! from future Japan travelogue entries on the site, I renamed the blog “Ten Thousand Shrines.”

UPDATE: The new design for Ten Thousand Shrines is now based on the updated version of www.peterchordas.com.

My Favorite Part

Having a dedicated online travelogue for my adventures in Japan.
